30 days on the used parts we sell
Every used part we sell comes with a 30-day warranty from the date you buy it. If it’s defective, we replace it or refund the part price at no charge. Labour isn’t covered.
- From the date you buy it
- Defects replaced or refunded, no fee
- Labour not included
The short version
30 days
The warranty runs for 30 days, counted from the date of sale.
Replaced or refunded
A part that’s defective on our end is replaced or the part price is refunded. No fee.
Part only
It covers the part. Removal, installation, a mechanic’s labour and other costs aren’t covered.
How the 30 days count
Day one is the day you buy the part. You have until the end of day 30 to tell us it’s bad.
Example: buy an alternator on March 1 and it’s covered through March 30. If it fails on March 22, call or text us that day.
Covered
- A part that doesn’t work when it’s installed
- A part that fails within the 30 days, with normal use and proper installation
- A replacement part or a refund of the part price, at no charge, when the fault is on our end
Not covered
- Removal and installation labour, including a mechanic’s bill
- Shop fees, diagnostics, towing or freight
- Rental cars or other costs while you wait
- Damage to other parts of the vehicle

Where parts come from
Pulled from cars in our own yard
Every used part we sell comes off a vehicle at our Clarington yard, from about 2,000 to choose from.
Ask what we know about the car a part came from. For engines and transmissions, that’s worth knowing before you buy.
Before you install it
A few checks that save you a second job.
- Compare before you fit it. Hold it up against your old part: same part number, same connectors, same mounting points.
- Engines need fresh fluids. Change the oil and filter and fill the coolant before the first start.
- Keep proof of the date. Your receipt, or the text where we confirmed the sale, shows when your 30 days started.
- Not sure it’s the part? Call us before you pull it back out. We’ll talk it through.
Parts policy
The full terms behind the warranty.
Installation
GTA Auto Recycling isn’t responsible for damage, loss or malfunction caused by improper installation, removal or use. Major components must be installed by a qualified mechanic. Improper or unprofessional installation voids the warranty.
Engines
Engines are sold in good operating condition, with normal oil pressure, compression and oil consumption. The warranty covers the crankshaft, block, heads and valve train only. Accessories such as the water pump, fuel pump, distributor, carburetor and exhaust manifold aren’t covered; they’re attached for convenience. Check the oil and coolant levels before the first start. Running an engine without proper lubrication or cooling voids the warranty, and so does a part that’s missing or was taken off on purpose.
Standard transmissions and rear ends
Sold working and serviceable at the time of sale. Broken or cracked gears found after the sale aren’t covered. The front and rear seals must be replaced before installation, or the warranty is void.
Automatic transmissions
Sold working. Replace the front and rear seals and the pan gasket before you install it. Skipping the seals, or letting the fluid run low, voids the warranty.
Fluids and overheating
Running with low or no oil, coolant or other fluid voids the warranty. Damage from overheating, misuse or incorrect installation isn’t covered.
Mechanical and electrical parts
Covered for the period we state when you buy them. Damage from improper handling, wiring or connection isn’t covered.
Radiators, heaters and batteries
Sold not to leak and to work as described at the time of purchase, under normal use and proper installation.
If a part is defective
When the fault is on our end, we replace the part or refund the part price, and there is no charge to you. No restocking fee, no handling fee. We decide between repair, replacement and refund after we’ve looked at the part.
Returns
Returns must be made within the 30-day warranty period, approved by us, in original condition and with the receipt. A 20% restocking fee applies to returns of parts that aren’t defective. Labour, freight and special orders aren’t refundable. Cut or modified parts can’t be returned. A part that has been taken apart, altered or damaged isn’t eligible for return or exchange.
Mechanics, labour and other costs
We aren’t responsible for a mechanic installing a part that turns out to be faulty, for the mechanic’s labour, or for any other cost. That includes removal and installation, towing, vehicle rental and incidental costs.
What isn’t covered
Overheating, lack of lubrication, improper installation, skipping required seals or gaskets, racing or off-road use, accident damage, misuse and neglect aren’t covered. Every part carries a 30-day limited warranty from the date of purchase unless we say otherwise in writing. If these conditions aren’t followed, the warranty is void. Nothing here limits your rights under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act.
Shipped parts
Parts sent by a third-party carrier are sold F.O.B. our yard at 91 Cowanville Road, Newcastle, Ontario. We aren’t responsible for damage, loss or delay caused by the carrier. Risk of loss passes to you when the carrier picks the part up. File any claim with the shipping company.
Deposits
Deposits are non-refundable. A deposit holds the part, covers the labour set aside for pulling it, and offsets restocking and handling costs. Collect the part within 7 days, or it may go back into inventory and the deposit is forfeited. A cancelled order also forfeits the deposit.
Questions about the warranty
Does the warranty cover the cost of installing the part?
No. The warranty covers the part itself. Labour to remove or install it isn’t covered, whoever does the work, and that includes a mechanic’s bill.
Can I get my money back instead of another part?
If a part is defective, we replace it or refund the part price, at no charge. We decide which after we’ve looked at it.
What if you don’t have another one?
Then we refund the part price.
Can I return a part that isn’t defective?
Within the 30 days, if we approve it and it’s in the condition we sold it in, with the receipt. A 20% restocking fee applies. Cut or modified parts, labour, freight and special orders can’t be returned or refunded.
A mechanic installed a part that was faulty. Who pays?
We replace the part or refund the part price. We aren’t responsible for the mechanic’s labour or any other costs.
When does the 30 days start?
On the day you buy the part. Day 30 is the last day to tell us it’s bad.
How do I ask for a part?
Call or text 647 614 7867 with the year, make, model and the part you need. A VIN or a photo of the old part helps us match it.
