What we collect, and why
Everything we hold comes from one of these five places.

Who we are
GTA Auto Recycling is an auto recycling yard in Clarington, Ontario. We buy scrap and junk cars, sell used parts and buy scrap metal. When this policy says “we”, it means us. You can reach us at 905 987 4636 or [email protected].
How we use it
We use what you send us to do what you asked: give you a number for your car, call you back, book a pickup or drop-off, find you a part, or plan for scrap metal you’re bringing in.
If you give us your email on the quote form, we send one email confirming we got your details, with your reference number. We don’t add you to a mailing list and we don’t send marketing.
Cookies and site tools
This site doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. When you first visit, a banner lets you choose which optional cookies to allow.
- Needed to run the site: security cookies from Cloudflare, and a cookie that remembers your banner choice.
- Logged-in staff only: WordPress login cookies. Visitors never get these.
- Visit counts: Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without identifying you.
- QR codes: when you scan one of our QR codes we count the scan. We don’t store your IP address with it.
How long we keep it
Quote requests and photos are kept for up to 24 months after we last hear from you, then deleted. If we buy your car, we keep the record of the sale for as long as the law requires.
Emails and texts stay in our inbox and phones until we clear them out. Ask and we’ll delete yours sooner.
How we protect it
The site runs over an encrypted connection (https), behind Cloudflare and a security plugin. Quote requests are stored in the site’s admin area, which only the yard can sign in to. Only people at the yard read what you send.
Your rights
Under Canada’s privacy law (PIPEDA) you can:
- ask what information we hold about you;
- have it corrected if it’s wrong;
- withdraw your consent and have it deleted, unless we must keep it by law;
- complain to us, and if you’re not satisfied, to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children
This site isn’t meant for children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we update this page and the date at the top.
